About Cost Drivers

Cost drivers are objects that significantly influence a cost entity (such as a service, service request, or incident). These drivers are associated with price list items and services. When associated with a service, they define the primary cost drivers for the service.

Viewing Cost Drivers

1.Log into the Service Desk Console.

2.Open the Cost Driver workspace. The list of cost items comes up.

3.Double-click an item from the list to view its details.

Creating a Cost Driver

1.Log into the Service Desk Console.

2.Open the Cost Driver workspace.

3.Click New ITFM Cost Driver. A blank cost driver form appears.

4.Enter information into the fields.

Field Description
Status The status. Choose either active or inactive.
Category The category. Choose from the drop-down list: Allocation, Hardware, Software, Professional Service, Overhead, or Vendor Service.
Name A unique name for your cost driver item.

5.Click Save.

Linking a Cost Driver to a Service

1.Log into the Service Desk Console.

2.Open the Cost Driver workspace. A list of cost drivers defined for your organization appears.

3.Double-click an item to open the record. For example, Financial Services.

4.From the Service tab, click the link icon. The system displays a list of services.

5.Choose a service from the list, then click Select.

6.Click Save. The service appears on the Service list, and the cost driver appears within the service record under the Cost Driver tab.

Linking a Service to a Cost Driver

1.Log into the Service Desk Console.

2.Open the CI Service workspace. The system displays a list of services.

3.Double-click an item to open the record.

4.From the Cost Driver tab, click the link icon . You must scroll right to find the tab. A list of cost drivers appears.

5.Choose a cost driver from the list, then click Select.

6.Click Save. The cost driver appears on the list, and the service item appears within the cost item record under the Service tab.
